Astellas Volunteers; USPS 7% GHG Reduction; Cameco Measures Sustainability – CSR Minute

Astellas Pharma US employees made up the largest contingent of volunteers to Give Kids the World Village in the organization’s history last week. More than 1,300 employees, in town for the company’s annual national sales meeting in Orlando, Florida, worked in the Village to clean up the grounds and wrap gifts for the weekly “Wonderland Parade,” a gift-giving event for children and their families.

The U.S. Postal Service has published its fourth annual sustainability report. The highlights include a 7.4 percent decrease in greenhouse gas emissions. The reduction adds up to 985,000 metric tons of CO2, equal to removing 200,000 cars from the road for a year.

Cameco, one of the world’s largest uranium producers, has released a sustainable development report that details its CSR practices. The report measures the company’s sustainability performance in 31 Global Reporting Initiative indicators and four indicators unique to the corporation, including its community investment programs from northern Saskatchewan to Western Australia.
