BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Energy Points today unveiled EnergyPoints™ Integrated Reports, a new application that enables businesses to issue a single, integrated sustainability report that clearly conveys both the financial and environmental impact of the company’s energy and resource consumption. BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–After facing several challenges in 2012, including the demise of some high-profile solar energy firms, continued political inaction on climate change and energy policy, and concerns around smart grids/smart meters and consumer privacy, the U.S. clean energy industry is seeking to rebound in 2013. According to a new white paper from Pike Research, a part of Navigant’s Energy Practice, after declining sharply from 2009 to 2011, consumer support for clean energy concepts has essentially stabilized. The survey of more than 1,000 U.S. adults conducted in the fall of 2012 found that the average percentage of consumers with a “very favorable” or “favorable” view of 13 clean energy concepts stands at 42 percent. PITTSBURGH–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Emerson Process Management, a global business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), has been selected to provide its Ovation™ control and optimization technology for two renewable energy projects being developed by EDF Renewable Energy, the U.S. unit of French energy company EDF Energies Nouvelles. The contract was awarded by global engineering, project management, and construction company Bechtel.
The 110-megawatt (MW) Catalina Solar and 140-MW Pacific Wind projects are located in Kern County, California.
Emerson’s Ovation system will play a key role in adjusting electrical output as directed by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) – a task that is becoming more important as renewable energy sources provide an increasing share of electricity to the grid. For example, if CAISO needs to curtail the output of the coordinated operation to maintain grid stability, the Ovation system will calculate the most economical way to achieve the new megawatt target.
