More Than 1.4 Million Autogas Vehicles Will be Sold Annually Worldwide by 2020
With a cost per gallon significantly lower than gasoline or diesel in many countries, and at least an initial existing infrastructure, the vehicle market for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), otherwise known as propane or autogas, seems poised for growth. However, increasing interest in compressed natural gas as a vehicle fuel, along with hesitation by both biofuel producers and auto manufacturers to make a significant investment in autogas, will most likely limit future growth in this sector to a slow and steady pace. The charitable foundation of the Newman’s Own food company has awarded a $50,000 grant to Community Servings, a Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts non-profit. The organization will use the funding to develop its “Family Nutrition Initiative,” interactive workshops for formerly homeless families around Boston who are transitioning to housing. The grant was made through the foundation’s nutrition-focused funding initiative that aims to support new and expanding programs. Technology from Emerson to Help Manage Clean Energy in California
PITTSBURGH–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Emerson Process Management, a global business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), has been selected to provide its Ovation™ control and optimization technology for two renewable energy projects being developed by EDF Renewable Energy, the U.S. unit of French energy company EDF Energies Nouvelles. The contract was awarded by global engineering, project management, and construction company Bechtel.
The 110-megawatt (MW) Catalina Solar and 140-MW Pacific Wind projects are located in Kern County, California.
Emerson’s Ovation system will play a key role in adjusting electrical output as directed by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) – a task that is becoming more important as renewable energy sources provide an increasing share of electricity to the grid.
