American Standard’s Flush for Good Campaign and Toilet Giveaway Save Lives

PISCATAWAY, N.J., June 23, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Worldwide, 2.5 billion people lack access to adequate sanitation facilities. Every single day, 2,000 children die from diseases caused by this lack of safe sanitation.

Bisexual Men Face Unique Challenges to Their Sexual Health

Ann Arbor, MI, June 23, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Bisexual men have many unmet public health needs, which leave them vulnerable to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and other health problems. This new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) illuminates the behavioral, interpersonal, and social realities of men who have sex with men and women (MSMW), and it explores possible interventions to better serve their needs. The findings are published today in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.

MSMW represent a small portion of the population, with about 2% of sexually active males reporting sex with both men and women. Although low in numbers, the bisexual male population is disproportionally affected by HIV and STIs. According to study author William L. Jeffries IV, PhD, MPH, MA, factors that may affect the sexual health of MSMW include sex without condoms, early sexual debut, forced sexual encounters, increased numbers of sexual partners, substance use, exchange sex, risk behaviors of their male and female partners, and attitudes toward pregnancy. These factors shape MSMW’s vulnerability to HIV and STIs in ways that distinguish bisexual men from gay and heterosexual men. Negative attitudes toward bisexual individuals, economic barriers, masculinity norms, and the meanings associated with their sexual identities are among the social factors that may negatively influence their sexual partnerships and risks for HIV/STIs. There’s a New Dog in Town at the Lancaster County Courthouse

On June 26, SSD Hamlet will join the Lancaster County Courthouse as a facility dog, where he will be assisting in the Lancaster County Veterans, Mental Health, and Drug Treatment Courts to help reduce anxiety and tension for participants. SSD Hamlet was trained by Susquehanna Service Dogs in Harrisburg. 

Harrisburg, PA, June 20, 2014 /3BL Media/ – On June 26, the Lancaster County Courthouse will be welcoming their newest employee to the building, SSD Hamlet. The Courthouse is getting SSD Hamlet from Susquehanna Service Dogs in Harrisburg.

SSD Hamlet will be assisting in the Lancaster County Veterans, Mental Health, and Drug Treatment Courts. These courts are designed to rehabilitate individuals involved in the criminal justice system by addressing specific treatment needs. Many of the Veterans Court participants are experiencing PTSD, while Mental Health Court participants have a variety of diagnoses, including bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, and depression. SSD Hamlet will help to reduce anxiety and tension for the participants during treatment court sessions and appointments with their probation officers. When not in court, SSD Hamlet will be living with one of his two handlers, Teri Miller-Landon and Karen Andreadis, both employees of the Lancaster County Courts. Continue reading

June 20, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Afore XXI Banorte busca fomentar entre sus colaboradores el apoyo a la comunidad, el trabajo en equipo, así como el sentido de pertenencia a la institución, por lo que, el pasado 30 de mayo, se entregaron 250 juguetes a niños en el Hospital Infantil de México Federico Gómez.

Esta actividad fue posible gracias al donativo de juguetes nuevos realizado por empleados del corporativo y de las oficinas de servicios y ventas ubicadas en distintas partes de la República Mexicana.

Para la entrega de juguetes, 11 voluntarios se transformaron en diferentes personajes, compartiendo sonrisas y conviviendo con niños que presentan problemas de salud.

En la organización del evento, se contó con el apoyo de la Dirección Ejecutiva de Responsabilidad Social de Grupo Financiero Banorte, buscando escalar acciones de Responsabilidad Social, en beneficio de la comunidad.

Para Afore XXI Banorte, la entrega de juguetes es un primer paso para el fomento y desarrollo de este tipo de acciones encaminadas a apoyar a la comunidad. Para hacer más fuerte a México.

Toyota, Suppliers Disaster Relief Giving Nears $86,000

BLUE SPRINGS, Miss., June 20, 2014 /3BL Media/ – In the aftermath of the April 28 tornado that struck Northeast Mississippi, Toyota asked how they could help those in need. The answer shaped itself in the form of almost $86,000 donated by Toyota, near site suppliers and team members.
Toyota Mississippi and its team members collectively donated of more than $35,000 to volunteer organizations responding to tornado relief efforts in North Mississippi. The donation included a company donation of $20,000 to the Northeast Mississippi Chapter of the American Red Cross and $15,000 from Toyota team members and the company’s dollar-for-dollar donation match program.
“We are very proud of our team members for their outpouring of support and generosity following the tornado this spring,” said Sean Suggs, vice president at Toyota Mississippi. “Our team members genuinely care about the welfare of others, and I am humbled to work beside each of them.”

Supplier donations totaled $23,000 with giving ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 per company. Toyota Boshoku, Systems Automotive Interiors (SAI) and Auto Parts Manufacturing Mississippi (APMM) each donated $5,000; Diversity Vuteq donated $4,000; and Toyota Tsusho America, Blue Springs Metals, Magnolia Automotive Services and Green Metals each donated $1,000.
“I am very proud of our supplier’s for the work they have done,” said Masafumi Hamaguchi, Toyota Mississippi president. “Toyota, our suppliers and team members worked as one team to help people in need and to support local communities as they heal.”
In addition to monetary donations, Toyota and supplier team members volunteered 1,445 hours of personal time removing debris from damaged areas. Volunteer hours account for approximately $27,960 based on a report by the nonprofit organization Independent Sector.
