Sustainability Efforts at Work Strongly Influence Americans at Home

NEW YORK–()–Nearly three-quarters (73 percent) of employed U.S. adults who take part in environmental and social responsibility efforts at work are more likely to make sustainable choices at home as a result, according to the fourth annual Gibbs & Soell Sense & Sustainability® Study released today. Despite persistent skepticism among the general public about corporate America’s commitment to “going green,“ the majority of employed adults are interested in learning what companies are doing in terms of sustainability and “going green” (74 percent) and wish their own company or employer engaged in more sustainability business practices, including “going green” or social responsibility initiatives (68 percent). Nearly 70 Percent of Electric Meters in Europe Will be Smart by 2020

european_unionSmart electric meters provide a platform for energy efficiency improvements, new customer services, and network optimization.  To achieve those goals across Europe, more than 30 million meters will need to be deployed annually during the peak years of activity, and major upgrade programs will need to be executed simultaneously in Europe’s largest countries, along with many smaller projects across a diverse range of countries and utilities.  According to a recent report from Pike Research, a part of Navigant’s Energy Practice, nearly 70 percent of all electric meters in Europe (and 90 percent in Western Europe) will be smart by 2020. Suniva adds Solar UL 1000 Volt Certifications and Module Capacity

suniva-logoNORCROSS, Ga.–()–Suniva, Inc., a U.S. manufacturer of high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon solar cells and modules, today announced that it is expanding its (PV) module certifications by adding UL 1703 1000 volt listing for its high power OPTimus® line of modules. These modules feature 60 cell models with power output up to 270W and 72 cell modules with power output up to 315W. The high-power solar cells utilized in these modules are made at Suniva’s Norcross Georgia plant and headquarters.

With this enhancement, North American projects can now use Suniva modules connected in series strings up to 1000 volts DC. This can result in significant cost savings in reduced labor costs, more rapid installation, reduced number of wiring homeruns and combiner boxes, and lower cost, more efficient inverters can be utilized. Emerson to Deliver Control Technologies for Nevada Solar Project to Power 75,000 Homes

PITTSBURGH–()–Emerson Process Management, a global business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), has been awarded a contract to apply its Ovation™ expert control system at the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project near Tonopah, Nev. When it comes online at the end of 2013, this 110-megawatt concentrated solar power (CSP) project will be the first commercial-scale solar facility in the United States to generate power from solar energy that is captured and stored in liquid molten salt.
